The Greatest Gift: Don’t forget the personal touch in your estate plan.

Our estate attorneys spend their days working with clients that are planning for death, facing death and in the grips of grief from the loss of a loved one. Our time helping families through wrapping up trusts or helping fiduciaries through probate and administration of their loved ones’ estates has taught us one important lesson – don’t forget the personal touch.

Our office can draft a trust, we can draft a will or a deed.  We can help you complete your beneficiary designations whether pay on death or transfer on death – but what we can not do is leave a note for your loved ones when you are gone. There is no word that can explain the magnitude of how much a simple note, a short video – a recording of your voice – will mean to your loved ones when you are gone.

So, next time you revisit your estate plans – or if it is something that has been on the back burner that you need to address – consider including with all the legal paperwork a handwritten note or a thumb drive with a video.  Remember the personal touch.

For the legal side of things, if you or your loved ones need assistance with an estate plan or are seeking assistance with the wrapping up of a trust or estate, we would be happy to help.  You can reach our estate attorneys at (804) 423-1382 or at info@wmmlegal.com.
